American singer D4vd was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl, says BBC.
By Celeste Rivas14, the badly decomposed remains were found last September in the artist’s Tesla in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The girl’s body was partially frozen and dismembered. He was reported missing in April 2024.
D4vd, aka David Anthony Burke, 21, is currently being held without bail and the case will be presented to prosecutors on Monday.
Burke’s defense attorneys deny the allegations against him. They remind that no official charges have been brought yet and that the artist has so far only been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“The actual evidence in this case shows that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and did not cause her death,” they added.
On September 8, 2025, Los Angeles police found a body in a Tesla car, packed in a bag and placed in the front trunk of the car. The car was registered to Burke’s address in Texas.
The car had been parked in a parking lot in Hollywood for several days, as a result of which it was brought to a garage in California. While the car was in the pit, reports were repeatedly made to the police about the pungent smell wafting from inside it. Eventually, the authorities made a grim discovery in its trunk.
The girl was estimated to have been dead even weeks before the body was found due to the poor condition of the remains. Rivas had lived about 120 kilometers from the place where his body was found.
Burke was on a world tour when the body was found. Shortly after the discovery, he canceled his tour and withdrew from the public eye.
Burke is best known for his songs Here with me and Romantic Homicide. The songs have gained popularity especially on Tiktok. Burke released his debut album last year.
