Also no trains to and from Amsterdam on Monday morning due to persistent disruption: “Arrange different transport” | Abroad

There will also be no trains to and from the Dutch capital Amsterdam on Monday morning. This is reported by the Dutch rail network operator ProRail on Twitter. A persistent malfunction at a traffic control post has not yet been resolved.

On Sunday afternoon, a malfunction occurred at the air traffic control post. The malfunction was resolved after a short time, but returned towards evening. As a result, no trains ran to and from Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport station for a large part of the evening and all night and Monday morning. Due to the malfunction, no international trains will run from and to Amsterdam on Monday morning, the NS reports. This concerns train traffic to Brussels, to Berlin and to Frankfurt.

“Impact is very big”

The cause of the malfunction is not yet known, says a ProRail spokesperson. The railway manager therefore cannot say when train traffic will start again. “At least not in the morning, what happens next is just watching coffee grounds.” ProRail says that resetting the systems did not help. “We are diligently looking for the cause, which is very difficult to find.” The spokesperson calls the fact that the cause is still unknown “extremely annoying, the impact is very large”.

According to the Dutch railway manager, it is not yet possible to predict when train traffic around the Dutch capital will start again, but it will certainly be “not before Monday afternoon”, it sounds there.

Concertgoers suffer

On Sunday evening, pop star Harry Styles performed in the Ziggo Dome, a large concert hall in Amsterdam. Due to the malfunction, many concertgoers who had come by train suddenly had to arrange other transport home. Those who failed to do so could temporarily stay in the concert hall. In the end, about 150 concertgoers spent the night in the Ziggo Dome. Sleeping bags were arranged for them.

“ProRail and NS regret that we were unable to bring many travelers home last night and that people also had to spend the night elsewhere. This is not what travelers can expect from us,” said ProRail on Monday.
