Adidas wants to investigate allegations of alleged toxic behavior by rapper Kanye West against employees of the sporting goods manufacturer. West, who worked with Adidas for the joint brand Yeezy, is said to have shown employees porn, among other things. They had made this public in an anonymous letter.

“It is so far unclear whether the allegations in the anonymous letter are true,” the company said compared to the US American ROLLING STONE. “However, we take these allegations very seriously.” That is why it was decided to start an independent investigation immediately. Adidas had already ended its collaboration with West in October because of his anti-Semitic statements.

Back in October, West himself uploaded a video to his YouTube channel of himself showing two Adidas board members a porn video. On November 22, several former Adidas employees wrote in an open letter that the US ROLLING STONE publishedwhat it’s supposed to be like working for West. So he created a “toxic and chaotic” environment in which porn played a central role.

He is also said to have shared nude photos of his then-wife Kim Kardashian, the letter said, titled “The Truth About Yeezy: A Call to Adidas Leadership.” He is also said to have shown porn in meetings on the grounds that he needed it to concentrate. Overall, everyday work is said to have consisted of “many forms of abuse”. They accused the Adidas board of having tolerated the behavior.

According to the “Financial Times” the investigation is also being carried out under pressure from Union Investment, one of the top 20 shareholders in Adidas. After the ROLLING STONE article, the German investment company contacted Adidas to get more information. “Adidas must disclose when the management and the board of directors were first informed about the internal allegations,” a representative of Union Investments told the newspaper.
