Milan (AP) – AC Milan has taken a big step towards the Italian football championship in a duel against defending champions Inter Milan. The Rossoneri won 2-0 (0-0) against Atalanta Bergamo on the penultimate matchday of Serie A.
Rafael Leao (56th minute) and Theo (75th) made Milan’s 25th win of the season perfect in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. AC now has it in their own hands to win their first Scudetto since the 2010/11 season.
In the table, the team around Sweden’s star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads two points ahead of Inter, who won 3-1 away at Cagliari Calcio on Sunday evening. If Inter had lost or just drawn, AC would have become champions early. Next Sunday it comes to a thrilling long-distance duel, in which the leaders play at Sassuolo Calcio and Inter play Sampdoria Genoa at home.
