Hans and Hélène bought a semi-detached house from 1875 in the Vlamingstraat in 2020. The house has a workshop where an orthopedic shoemaker once worked. First, the couple wanted to turn it into an office space, but they changed their mind: it will be a B&B.
Studio becomes B&B
The studio will be converted into Bed & Breakfast De Vlaming in the near future. Guests from home and abroad can come and sleep in a brand new room with a nice double bed, a bathroom and a seat in the front garden with a view of the street and the water. In a corner there is an opportunity to make tea and coffee.
Local delicacies
Hans and Hélène will spoil their guests with a delicious breakfast in the morning. “We bake our own bread with flour from Molen De Hoop and we serve cheese from the cheese shop, tea from Brifleuri, both in the Dorpsstraat, and fresh juice from the Hof van Seghwaert pear orchard. We also have wallpaper made from old photos from the archive of the Historical Society Oud Soetermeer of the Vlamingstraat. We hope that our guests will find it just as nice to live here as we do”, says Hans. The couple will first do a test run: this new hotspot will officially open to guests in April.
