“Too expensive for the money”

Will FC Bayern extend the contract with Leroy Sané? One person has a clear opinion on this: Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder.
Markus Söder has made critical comments about Bayern star Leroy Sané. In a discussion on the pay-TV channel Sky, the Bavarian Prime Minister noted that the offensive player was not always convincing in his game. “Sané is trying, you can tell it’s contract time. But he’s also a bit of a loss of opportunity, I would say, even if he sometimes hits great shots,” said the 58-year-old CSU politician. He also added: “He could be a world footballer, but he is no longer a talent.”
According to Söder, Sané, now 29 years old, only performed well for about four weeks this season. However, FC Bayern needs players who impress throughout the entire season. Söder also emphasized that, in his opinion, the contract negotiations with Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala had a higher priority than those with Sané.
The former Schalke player’s working paper expires in the summer. It is not yet clear whether FC Bayern will extend his contract. According to Söder, the German international is “too expensive for the money”.
Söder was much more merciful when it came to the personal details of Vincent Kompany and Max Eberl. “He has stabilized a lot,” he said of Bayern coach Kompany, who has been in office since last summer. Sports director Eberl confirmed that Söder has had a very positive balance so far.
He didn’t want to make too much of Munich’s recent defeat in the Champions League at Feyenoord Rotterdam (0:3). “I wouldn’t see the game as the end of the world,” emphasized Söder. “They’re not where they want to be, but there’s still time.”
Despite the bankruptcy, Bayern are certainly qualified for the intermediate round of the premier class. A direct jump to the round of 16 is hardly possible after the third defeat in the seventh Champions League game.
