Beşiktaş Club announced that it has applied to UEFA for the away match against Dutch representative Twente on January 30, 2025 in the 8th week of the UEFA Europa League to be played elsewhere.

In the statement made by the black-and-white club, it was stated that Enschede Mayor Roelof Bleker, who decided not to allow Beşiktaş fans into the match, sent an official letter to the club and said, “The Mayor of Enschede, who decided that our fans will not be allowed into the UEFA Europa League match that our team will play against Twente at FC Twente Stadion on January 30, 2025.” Roelof Bleker met with our Vice Presidents Onur Göçmez and Mete on 17 December 2024. “After the meeting held with the participation of UEFA, Twente and Enschede Municipality officials, Vardar stated that he did not change his decision in the official letter he sent to us on December 20, 2024, and cited the behavior of our fans in the European competitions we played in the past periods as the reason for his decision.” It was said.

The following statements were made in the statement, in which Bleker’s decision was described as “discrimination”:

“We do not want to play the UEFA Europa League match against Twente in the city of Enschede, where the mayor Roelof Bleker himself stated that security cannot be ensured. The FC Twente-Beşiktaş UEFA Europa League match should be played in another city or country where the fans of the two clubs can be in the stands in a friendly and safe manner. “We would like to inform the public that we have applied to UEFA for this purpose.”
