The German volleyball women celebrated another victory at the end of the first week of the Nations League. Coach Vital Heynen’s team turned a 2-1 set deficit against Bulgaria and won 3-2 (18:25, 25:20, 23:25, 26:24, 15:10).
The most successful German attacker was co-captain Lena Stigrot with 17 points. In the games of Volleyball Nations League points are awarded for the world rankings, which in the end can be decisive for the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024. Before the game in Nagoya, Japan, Bulgaria was behind Germany. The DVV team has three wins from four games.
The top 16 teams in the world for men and women play against each other in the Nations League at different venues over six weeks. After twelve games per team, the eight best teams advance to the final round. After the games in Nagoya, the German women will play in Brasilia from mid-June and then in Bangkok. The men start the tournament on June 8th.
