Wu Yibing made history at the US Open. The 22-year-old tennis player became the first Chinese player to win a singles match in a Grand Slam tournament in 63 years.
Wu surprisingly prevailed against number 31 seeded Georgian Nikolos Basilashvili 6: 3, 6: 4, 6: 0.
Mei Fu Chi was the last China player to win a major at Wimbledon in 1959. Wu is also the first Chinese to win a match at the US Open since 1935.
He had won the junior competition in 2017, but his professional career has not yet really taken off due to injuries. Now Wu has won 14 duels in a row.
