The number of suicides in Drenthe decreased last year compared to the year before. This is evident from figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). In 2021, 49 people have died after a suicide attempt, compared to 57 in 2020.

On average, 12 out of 100,000 people in Drenthe died of suicide. The national average is slightly lower, at around 10. In absolute numbers, the number of suicides in the Netherlands rose to 1,859, slightly more than in 2020. The number of suicides increased most sharply among men aged 20 to 30 years.

Relatively speaking, the fewest suicides occurred in Flevoland, South Holland and Utrecht. Relatively speaking, residents of the province of Zeeland kill themselves most often. This concerns almost 14 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
