DFB stars pay fans for the bus ride to the World Cup game
In view of the high prices for bus and train journeys in New York during the World Cup, the German national soccer players have organized free transport for 600 fans to the last group game.
According to information from the German Press Agency, captain Joshua Kimmich and his colleagues will cover the costs of buses that will take the supporters from New York to the arena in New Jersey for the game against Ecuador in East Rutherford on June 25th.
To get a free ticket you have to be a member of the national team fan club. If more supporters register than there are places available, the places will be allocated by lottery. The DFB team is reacting to the discussion about the sharp rise in public transport prices in some venues during the World Cup.
The transport company NJ Transit had previously reduced the prices for trips between New York and East Rutherford after severe criticism. However, they are still significantly higher than before and after the World Cup tournament.
The price for the special tickets fell from initially $150 to $98 for a return trip. According to official information, the route normally costs around $12.90. A bus trip should now cost $20 instead of the previously planned $80 round trip. 600 DFB fans can now travel for free.
Danger of snakes? This is how the Swiss team reacts
The Swiss Football Association warned of rattlesnakes around its training ground at the World Cup in San Diego and went viral. The post on Instagram points out the areas next to the lawn where the poisonous animals are and should be avoided. While there is a lot of excitement in the comments, the Swiss team is taking a more relaxed approach to the danger of snakes.
