The court in Assen sentenced 81-year-old Epko F. to ten years in prison on Tuesday, in accordance with the demands of the Public Prosecution Service, for killing his 72-year-old wife Ida. F. killed the woman on August 24 and dumped her body at night in the Noord-Willemskanaal near Tynaarlo. She was found there the next day, with a plastic bag over her head. “A pure form of femicide,” said the court.
