According to the statement of the Turkish Visually Impaired Sports Federation, 16 teams each for men and women will participate in the organization to be held in Hangzhou, China, between 10-15 June.
The top 2 teams in 4 groups of four will advance to the quarter finals. The quarter-finals will be played on June 13, the semi-finals on June 14, and the finals on June 15. The teams that advance to the finals of the championship will have the right to directly participate in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. Türkiye, which came out on top in both women’s and men’s categories at the 2025 European Goalball Championship, will try to repeat its success in the world championship.
Türkiye Women’s National Goalball Team, which won the gold medal in the last 3 of the Paralympic Games and the last world championship, will face the hosts China, Great Britain and Mexico in Group C.
The squad of the Turkish Women’s National Goalball Team will include Sevda Altunoluk, Sevtap Altunoluk, Ceren Yılman, Şeydanur Kaplan Coşkun, Gülşah Aktürk and Reyhan Yılmaz.
Turkey Men’s National Goalball Team, consisting of Emrullah Toprakçı, Hüseyin Alkan, Murat Yılmaz, Ebubekir Sıddık Kara, Burak Korkmaz and Yunus Emre Akyüz, will compete in Group X together with Ukraine, Canada and Australia.
