Estavana Polman will end her handball career after this season and it is almost certain that she will then focus on a career in television. “She has to sit at the table at Today Inside!”
The way in which Estavana Polman talked about the program Beter Laat Dan Nooit appealed to TV critics: she is praised for her TV talent. Now that she is actually putting an end to her handball career at the age of 33, it seems that she will either work for RTL or get a contract with Talpa.
‘Great talent!’
Wilfred Genee seems to fervently hope that Estavana will ultimately choose Talpa. “Estavana Polman. A great talent, you say. Sign him immediately, right?” he says Today Inside to bar guest Tina Nijkamp.
Tina then says: “Immediately! When I read that she stopped playing handball, I immediately thought: you should immediately call to get her as a table lady. She is really a great television talent. She also did Better Late Than Never well. But RTL will also be calling. I think there is a fight over her!”

Johan Derksen then indicates that he is in contact with Estavana. “Well, she called my daughter (Marieke Derksen, who publishes Estavana’s book, ed.) for my telephone number, because she wanted some advice, because she had had a few offers. At Estavana, Wilfred gauges how many privateers there are off the coast. “How many offers have you received so far?”
Estavana: “Well, a few have come, but I’m still playing handball, guys. Enjoy the last few months.”
Wilfred: “But can we do business right away? Two years, three years, what would you want? Would you like it? Would you possibly want to work at SBS?”
Handball player
Estavana keeps all options open. “Well, if something fun comes my way, I’m open to it, but for now I’m still a handball player. I also think Raf is happy when I’m home for a while.”
Johan jokes: “He’ll get tired of that soon!”
Estavana and her partner Rafael van der Vaart currently still live in Bucharest, but after returning to the Netherlands they will live in the town of Huissen, near Arnhem. “That’s where my hairdresser lives!” Johan shouts.
