In the Westerpark, posters with warnings hang on different tree trunks. This is to point out walkers and cyclists that the paths were closed for two days this summer. The Westerpark is not the lovely park that we know in those places, but dangerous terrain!

Every summer the announcements are on the trees again. Most people from the neighborhood know about it, but if you don’t come to Westerpark that often, you can wonder what is going on there. The fact is that HKS Zoetermeer handbows club organizes two major competitions in the neighborhood. So the arrows are flying around these days!

Shooting in Sweet Lake City

On Sunday, June 29, the Lakota Trophy field competition, where shooters from home and abroad are running a course through the park. “On the way they come across goals where they try to determine the right distance and corner to arrive at the highest possible score,” says Bernard Visse of HKS Zoetermeer.

Look carefully

On Sunday, July 13, people with hand arches walk through the park again. Then the Westerpark 3D round shooting event is underway. For both competitions, the association closes part of the park completely to the public until 6 p.m. Do you still want to catch a glimpse of the archers? HKS always tries to place a number of goals in such a way that passers -by can get an impression of the sporting event from the outside of the area.

The municipality thinks it is good

The red area in the map below is the competition site. This has been labeled as an event site on the basis of a municipal permit during the competitions and is then not publicly accessible.
