202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit

From March 15th to 17th, 2022, top-class experts will meet again at the 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit to jointly promote the transformation of fashion

After two successful editions, experts from interdisciplinary disciplines will come together from March 15 – 17, 2022 at the 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit, so that innovations and solutions for a more sustainable fashion industry can be discussed together and their implementation tackled. The focus of this issue is on regenerative mode systems and the question of how positive impact can be implemented in existing systems. The topic is considered from a global as well as a local perspective. The aim is to develop regenerative mechanisms for the planet, economy and society, while at the same time strengthening and promoting local fashion players and innovators worldwide.

The 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit with the topic “Regenerative Fashion Systems – Implement Positive Impact” is now being organized digitally and physically by studio MM04 in cooperation with Sqetch and the Beneficial Design Institute. The event is part of Berlin Fashion Week and is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Business.

Speakers include Christian Dietrich (Sfeeri), Claire Bergkamp from the Textile Exchange, Dilys Williams (Centre for Sustainable Fashion at London College of Fashion), Lavina Muth (Sustainability Provocateur/formerly Armedangels) and Lisa Jaspers (founder of Folkdays and political activist) part.

“I am very pleased that formats such as the 202030 Summit are taking place here in the capital during Berlin Fashion Week. This year’s content promises a constructive exchange between the participants in order to provide impetus for sustainable development within the textile and fashion industry. An event that focuses on important issues of today,” explains Senator Stephan Schwarz.

The increased interest of the economy in sustainable solutions causes a change from linear to circular systems, not least to save resources. Regenerative sustainability aims to design the systems, the economy and our lives in such a way that new resources with a positive biosphere influence are created. This manifests itself in the restoration of biodiversity, the reversal of climate change and a common good-oriented development towards fairer distribution and cooperation in value chains, greater diversity in organizations, as well as the development of culturally inclusive and socially strengthening ecosystems.

The importance of this scientific approach for the fashion industry as well as existing best practices can be found at the 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit.

The program is divided into three key areas:
#1 Global Perspective – How can we create a fashion system based on regenerative mechanisms for the planet, people, culture and economy?

#2 Local Perspective – How can we nurture and empower local fashion players, companies and innovators to collectively achieve a regenerative future in fashion?

#3 recommendations for action – How can we establish holistic and regenerative quality standards in the areas of product, design and production?

The 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit is also designed in two parts. The first part consists of a pop-up think tank, which takes place in advance and is not open to the public. In various workshops, selected experts discuss the main topics.

Their findings will be presented as a compact summary, specialist articles, panel discussion or interviews at the subsequent 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit. This takes place publicly over three days and invites the public to obtain information and exchange ideas.

Partners of the 202030 – The Berlin Fashion Summit in March are the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), Blauer Engel, Kornit, Zalando, Klarna, the German Institute for Textile and Fiber Research , the University of the Arts London, the network for fashion and textiles, the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) and the NGOs Fashion Revolution and Drip by Drip.
