“Like a Rolling Stone: 1965, in the studio with Bob Dylan” will air on Friday (December 9) at 11:45 p.m. on Arte. If you miss the film on TV, you can watch it until December 3rd, 2023 in the Arte media library look at.
The 74-minute scenic re-enactment shows the origin story of Dylan’s legendary song “Like a Rolling Stone”. The film was shot under the direction of director Julien Condemine in collaboration with Arte France.
The setting of the film is a music studio in New York in 1965. Four musicians are waiting there Bob Dylan (Sébastien Pouderoux), who arrives last. They start to play, but there are moments of waiting, doubt and lack of creativity, because nobody really knows which way to go. But in the end one of the greatest songs in history emerges – “Like a Rolling Stone”.
In addition to Dylan (Sébastian Pouderoux), there are also: producer Tom Wilson (Gilles David), who quickly loses patience; guitarist Mike Bloomfield (Stéphane Varupenne), who is there as Dylan’s sole point of contact and go-between; Keyboardist Al Kooper (Christophe Montenez), who is only a part for the love of Dylan, as well as pianist Paul Griffin (Hugues Duchêne) and drummer Bobby Gregg (Gabriel Tur).
