1,200 signatures against 4 wind turbines in Ypres
Mayor Emmily Talpe of Ypres was officially handed over the pile of objections. The windmills are at least 200m high, and according to the neighborhood committee, they are also too close to homes in the area.
“Wind turbines will of course always be necessary,” says Marc Poissonnier of the Neighborhood Committee. “But we think that such wind turbines are better where they should be: in industrial zones, harbor areas or at sea. But not 250m from the closest homes.”
“Clear Signal”
The city of Ypres must now formulate an advice for the Flemish Government, which will decide. “More than 1200 objections, that’s a clear sign,” realizes mayor Emmily Talpe. “We have always said: pro-wind energy. But then there must be support from the neighbors. And with those 1200 objections, we really have to take a thorough look at how we proceed with that. The advice of the city will certainly take this into account keep up.”
