Second division football club 1. FC Nürnberg has signed Spanish central defender Ivan Marquez. The club announced this on Thursday.
The 28-year-old comes from NEC Nijmegen in the Dutch Eredivisie. The Nuremberg team did not provide any information about the duration of the new contract or the transfer fee.
“In Ivan we have signed a player with leadership and mentality,” said Olaf Rebbe, sporting director of FCN: “He recently had two really good seasons in Holland. He will enrich us overall. His physique and experience will do us good.”
In addition, Nuremberg extended the contract with U19 goalkeeper Tim Janisch “long-term” and thus ties one of its top talents from its own youth. “If Tim continues to step on the gas like before, then he will soon be more than a training guest with the pros,” said Rebbe.
