1. FC Köln welcome more fans

Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Köln can welcome more spectators than expected in their own stadium just in time for the start of the second stage in the Corona opening plan.

For the home game on Sunday (5:30 p.m.) against TSG Hoffenheim, the Cologne health department has released 37,500 seats. The club announced this on Thursday evening.

This increase in capacity is possible within the framework of the current Corona Protection Ordinance, “which, in combination with a viable hygiene and infection protection concept, allows the responsible authorities to issue special permits.” Access is only granted to those who meet the 2G Plus rule, and masks are compulsory throughout the stadium.

The second phase of the federal government’s three-stage plan for easing the corona measures begins on Friday. This also has an impact on major events, including Bundesliga games.

The benchmark was initially a capacity utilization of up to 75 percent, but no more than 25,000. In the 50,000-seat Cologne stadium, 37,500 spectators mean 75 percent occupancy.
